If you follow the bicycle events that truly matter, you know that every technical detail can change the way you experience a gravel race. At the GT3 Lavaredo UCI Gravel World Series, a significant update arrives this year: the Medium gravel course, designed specifically for women’s categories and men aged Over 60.

This is not a “shortened” or simplified alternative. It’s a purpose‑built gravel bike race route, developed with precise technical criteria, running parallel to the Long course and offering a competitive, balanced experience fully aligned with UCI gravel standards.

The Medium course was created with a clear sporting goal: offering the involved categories a calibrated elevation profile while maintaining the same terrain quality, the same gravel identity, and the same competitive value.

How the Two Courses Develop — and Where They Split

The Long and Medium routes share the same start, the same terrain, and the same gravel philosophy. They run together until Carbonin, the key point where the two tracks separate.

The Long Course: Technical Features

  • Distance: approx. 133 km
  • Elevation gain: 3170 m
  • Gravel race across Veneto and the Dolomites with iconic sections
  • Valid for UCI Gravel European and World Championship qualification (top 25% of each category)

After Carbonin, the Long route continues toward Cimabanche and reaches Cortina d’Ampezzo, entering the heart of the Dolomites. From there, riders face Passo Tre Croci, the third KOM, climbing beneath the dramatic walls of the Pomagagnon.

The course reaches Mietres, then descends through larch forests toward Malga Larieto. From Rio Gere, the final gravel ascent leads back to Passo Tre Croci, the natural gateway to the Sorapis area.

A 20‑km descent follows through Val Grande and the Somadida Forest, a natural corridor leading to Auronzo di Cadore, beneath the imposing Marmarole peaks.

A long, technical, complete route — the purest expression of the GT3 DNA.

The Medium Course: What Changes Compared to the Long?

  • Distance: approx. 105 km
  • Elevation gain: approx. 2460 m
  • Reserved for women and men Over 60
  • Same terrain and same technical difficulty as the Long
  • Valid for UCI qualification (top 25% of each category)
  • Full Tre Cime di Lavaredo cycling loop

After the split at Carbonin, the Medium route turns toward Misurina, climbing up to 1786 m — the second KOM. From there, a long, smooth descent brings riders back toward Auronzo, completing a loop that preserves the technical quality of the Long course while offering a development better suited to the dedicated categories.

Is the GT3 Lavaredo Medium Course Really Easier?

No.

The Medium is not an “easy route”: it is the right route.

It’s technical, flowing, and authentically gravel. The mountain makes the difference, not the distance. As the course unfolds across forests, plateaus, and Dolomite gravel, the Tre Cime remain a constant presence — a visual compass that shifts in perspective, color, and distance, but never stops accompanying you.

Riding a bike in the mountains is more than sport: it’s a genuine way of experiencing the territory.

Gravel Bike or MTB for the GT3 Lavaredo?

The course is designed for a gravel bike, but MTB riders are welcome too.
What matters is the desire to challenge yourself on real, living terrain that changes under your wheels.

A gravel bike event across Veneto and the Dolomites that makes no concessions — but rewards every watt spent with unforgettable scenery.

When Should You Register?

If the Medium feels like your ideal racing ground, now is the time to act.
Registration fees are discounted until February 28.

Choose your route — Medium or Long — and get ready to enter a bike race in Italy unlike any other: a unique blend of gravel racing, Dolomite landscapes, and the unmistakable spirit of a true Italian cycle race.
